Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Kano Pillars have been fined N1m after supporters of the club encroached the pitch during Sunday’s matchday four game against Rivers United.
The match was played at the home ground of Pillars, the Sani Abacha Stadium.
In a similar development, Heartland Football Club were issued a warning to curb restive acts of their supporters.

The Owerri-based club was also advised to organise a reorientation exercise for its supporters. The NPL board stated it is necessary so as to inculcate in the fans the spirit of fair play.
The NPFL reached the respective decisions conveyed in separate summary Jurisdiction notices announced on Monday.
Supporters of Kano Pillars jumped the barriers onto the pitch to celebrate their 93rd minute goal in the match.
Following a review of reports from the match officials, the NPFL charged the club with a breach of Rule B13.18. The club was then ordered to pay in the space of 14 days.
Heartland gets warning
The NPFL also warned that failure to comply within the stipulated time would be considered a continuous breach of the NPFL Framework and Rules.
In the case of Heartland FC, the NPFL ‘expressed reservations over the behaviour of the fans in holding back the players and Officials at the stadium after the match.’
In a memo signed by Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, NPFL stated: “It has come to our attention that some irate Supporters of your club held players and Officials hostage after the match, making it difficult for them to exit the stadium premises until a detachment of security operatives arrived as reinforcement.”
