NPFL26 MD 33: Kun Khalifat shock Nasarawa, Remo edge Shooting, as Plateau crush Ikorodu

Matchday 33 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) delivered tension and standout performances across several venues. However, it was Kun Khalifat who stole the spotlight.

In Lafia, they stunned Nasarawa United with a dramatic 1-0 win. An injury time strike from Stanley Otu sealed a shock win, sparking wild celebrations.

Meanwhile, Rangers International and Barau FC battled to a tense stalemate as neither side could find the breakthrough in Enugu.

Elsewhere, Katsina United edged Niger Tornadoes 1-0. Elijah Akanni’s second-half strike proved decisive in gifting the home side maximum points.

Goals flow as Pillars, Kwara, and Remo strengthen their positions

Kano Pillars produced the most dominant display of the round. Mustapha Jibrin, Chiedozie Okorie, Muhammad Aminu, and Bernard Ovoke secured a 4-0 rout.

Two goals arrived in each half, as the hosts ran riot. Bendel Insurance of Benin had no response throughout the contest as they were well beaten.

Kwara United also impressed with a commanding 3-0 win over El-Kanemi Warriors. Their momentum continues to build following goals from Junior Aimufua, Samsudeen Mohammed, and Abdulsalam Abdulsalam.

In Ikenne, Remo Stars grabbed all three points in a tightly contested affair against Shooting Stars (3SC) of Ibadan.

After a goalless first half, Samuel Anakwe netted a fine goal through Haruna Hadi’s beautiful assist. The latter had dribbled past two 3SC players on the left wing before sending a low shot into the box. Captain Victor Mbaoma displayed a dummy to allow the ball pass through his legs as it rolled to an unmarked Anakwe who slotted home.

In another Matchday 33 encounter, Warri Wolves secured a 2-0 win over Rivers United. Igbunu Evwierhurhoma scored from the spot early, before Othuke Egbo sealed it late.

On Monday, two fixtures were decided. Abia Warriors beat Bayelsa United while Plateau United walloped Ikorodu City FC 4-1.

Chukwuemeka Obioma scored two minutes before the hour mark and that was the only goal recorded in game as the Warriors defeated their visitors.

Meanwhile, Ossy Martins grabbed a brace as Plateau mauled the Oga Boys from Lagos.

As the league heads into another crucial weekend, the stakes continue to rise. Every result now carries weight in shaping the table.
