The year 2023 was a remarkable one for the Nigerian music industry, as many talented and versatile artistes emerged and dominated the scene with their hit songs and albums.

10. Seyi Vibez

The street sensation known as Seyi Vibez made waves in 2023 with his catchy and energetic songs that blended fuji, afrobeat and hip hop. His latest drop “Thy Kingdom Come ,” was one of the biggest album of the year.

He will serve as the number ten artiste on the NRTC list.

Odumodu Blvck is a rising star in the alternative music scene, known for his unique blend of afro-fusion, soul and R&B. His debut album “Eziokwu (UNCUT)” was a critical and commercial success, featuring hits like A1 PERICO ft. Nasty C, Mizzle, FIREGUN ft. Fireboy.

8. Ayra Starr

The Mavin Records diva Ayra Starr continued her impressive run in 2023 with her latest release “Big FU Ft. David Guetta & Lil Durk”, which showcased her vocal prowess and versatility. The album spawned hits like “Bloody Samaritan”, “Beggie Beggie” and “Fashion Killer”, earning her rave reviews and accolades from fans and critics alike.

7. Davido

The OBO himself Davido proved once again why he is one of the biggest names in the industry with his seventh studio album “Timeless”, which featured collaborations with international stars like Musa Keys, Angelique Kidjo, The Cavemen, Morravey, Skepta, Fave, Asake and much more.

The album was a global sensation, breaking records on streaming platforms and topping charts across the world. Davido also won the MTV EMA for Best African Act and the BET Award for Best International Act.

6. Burna Boy

The African Giant Burna Boy cemented his status as one of the most influential artistes of his generation with his eighth studio album “I Told Them”.

The album was a masterpiece of afrobeat, dancehall, pop and hip hop, featuring hits like “City Boys”, “I Told Them” and “Giza ft. Seyi Vibez”. Burna Boy also performed at several prestigious events, including the BRIT Awards, the BET Awards and the Global Citizen Live.

5. Rema

The young prodigy Rema continued to impress with his versatility and creativity in 2023, releasing his album “Ravage”.

The Album showcased a different side of his musical talent, from his smooth vocals and catchy melodies to his hard-hitting bars and flows.

4. Blaqbonez

The self-proclaimed best rapper in Africa Blaqbonez lived up to his hype in 2023 with his fourth studio album “Emeka Must Shine”, which was a commercial and critical success.

The album featured guest appearances from Jeriq, Young John, Black Sherif, Ludacris among others, and delivered a mix of rap, afro-pop and R&B. Blaqbonez also dominated the airwaves with hits like “Like Ice Spice”, “NYEM EGO” and “DOLLERZ”, and many more.

3. Mohbad

The late Imolenization star Mohbad was one of the breakout artistes of 2023, with his debut album “Blessed” being one of the most anticipated and streamed albums of the year.

The album featured collaborations with Bella Shurmda, Zlatan, among others, and showcased his talent as a singer and rapper. Mohbad also had several hit singles, including “Beast & Peace”, “Sabi” and “Ask About Me”.

2. Shallipopi

The Presido of Pluto Shallipopi took the industry by storm in 2023 with his debut album “Presido La Pluto”, which was a fusion of afro-house and pop.

The album was a smash hit, featuring songs like “Cast”, “Evil Receive” and “Things on Things”. Shallipopi also collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Odumodu Blvck, and Tekno, earning him recognition.

The undisputed king of 2023 was Asake, who rose from being an underground artiste to becoming a household name with his hit single “Mr Money”, which became a viral sensation and an anthem for hustlers.

He followed up with his album “Work of Art” which was a smash with hits, featuring songs like “Amapiano”, “Basquiat”, “2:30”, and “Great Guy” and also featuring big name in the industry Olamide.

Asake as got awards like “AFRIMA Award for Breakout Artiste of the Year”, The Headies Award for Next Rated”. He rose excellently in the industry.

In 2023, the Nigerian music scene thrived with diverse talents. Asake emerged as the undisputed king, rising from underground to a household name with the viral hit “Mr Money” and acclaimed album “Work of Art.”

Awards like AFRIMA’s Breakout Artiste and The Headies Next Rated solidified his exceptional ascent. The industry’s future looks promising, marked by a dynamic blend of genres and rising stars.
