Leading Stories: Fuel pump price goes up again, scarcity eminent in most part of the country
Fuel scarcity has gradually become a motif in this country. We have witnessed fuel pump price go up at least twice this year, increasing the cost of living. On September 3, NNPC increased fuel pump price from N568-N617 per litre to N855- N897 per litre.
This price change affected a lot of things ranging from transport fare to cost of commodity. Fuel price has not only gone up but there is an imminent scarcity in parts of the country.
Black market sales are gaining grounds with sales from N1000- N1400 per litre. Remember that at the start of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ‘s tenure, fuel subsidy was removed plunging Nigerians to a deeper mudslide every day.
Education: NELFUND adds 40 tertiary institutions as beneficiaries of student loan, disburses 2.1 billion
The student loan is beginning to gain grounds with a fair amount of Nigerian students making use of the opportunity. While some students might be skeptical about the loan, others are eager to collect “taxpayers’ money” to further their education.
NELFUND has added 40 more schools to be beneficiaries of student loan in addition to the initial 19 schools. This was disclosed on the agency X page.
NRTC gathered that the Northerners have been making good use of the student loan opportunity better than other regions. With this latest development, about 19,000 students are beneficiaries of this loan scheme.
Business: Dangote Refineries begin work, set to determine fuel pump price by October
September 3, was a significant day in Nigeria fuel struggle history. After a much awaited progress, Dangote Refineries began the production of petrol. NRTC gathered the refinery might be allowed to sell fuel at their desired price but not below the market price set to make price.
This report came after, Aliko Dangote, chairman of Dangote Industries Limited told the public that fuel price from his plant will be determined by Federal Executive Council (FEC) and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

For the first time in twenty years, we no longer have Ronaldo or Messi on the Ballon d’or list. Messi has won the award 8 times since 2003 while Ronaldo has bagged the award 5 times since 2003.
The football rivals are no longer imminent on the international stage. Ronaldo now plays for Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr while Messi plays for MLS with Inter Miami. It is no doubt that they both contributed a great deal to football history but now history is being rewritten.
Entertainment: DJ Cuppy goes back to school, enrols for a fourth degree
DJ Cuppy is one egghead. The disc jockey artiste revealed on her Instagram page on Thursday that she has enrolled for another degree from the London School of Economics.
In 2014, she got a degree in business and economics from Kingās College, London. Then she got her first masterās degree in the field of music business from New York University in 2015 and her second master’s degree in African Studies in 2022.
