The high-profile reception in Gusau signalled a significant realignment in the state’s political landscape.
Addressing party members, he said the development effectively weakened opposition parties, noting that Zamfara’s political actors were now united under one platform.
Speaking on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, Mr Shettima reassured residents that efforts to tackle insecurity in the state were yielding results.
Business/Economy: CBN reforms aim to end forex monopoly on diaspora remittances
NRTC WEEKLY learnt that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has introduced new rules on diaspora remittances designed to break existing monopolies in the foreign exchange market and push more money through formal channels.
The reforms require International Money Transfer Operators to open and maintain naira settlement accounts with authorised dealer banks.
They are also being integrated into the Bloomberg B‑Match trading platform, linking remittance transactions directly to the official FX market.
The Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABDCON) welcomed the policy shift, describing it as a step toward liberalising and democratising access to diaspora remittances.

Speaking at the launch in Abuja on Friday, the Minister of Education, Maruf Alausa, described the initiative as a significant transformation in the country’s education approach, with a strong focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and employment generation.
“Today marks not just the launch of a programme, but the beginning of a new paradigm in Nigeria’s education system, one that shifts our young people from job-seekers to job-creators, from passive learners to active innovators, and from graduates to nation builders,” he said.
Sports: CAS races to decide Senegal’s AFCON appeal after title is handed to Morocco
NRTC WEEKLY gathered that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has pledged urgency as Senegal fight to reclaim their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) crown. The governing body confirmed it will act quickly, although no deadline has been fixed.
The controversy stems from the final on 18 January, where Senegal edged Morocco 1-0. However, that result was later overturned and recorded as a 3-0 victory for Morocco.
Tensions escalated late in the match when Senegal’s players walked off after a stoppage-time penalty decision. Although they returned, the incident triggered disciplinary action and sparked a wider dispute.
Following an appeal by the Moroccan FA, Confederation of African Football (CAF) ruled Senegal had forfeited the final. The decision effectively stripped them of the title.
Entertainment: Biola Adebayo apologizes over Baba Ijesha interview
NRTC WEEKLY gathered that Nollywood actress and podcaster Biola Adebayo has tendered an apology after facing strong reactions online over her recent interview with convicted actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, widely known as Baba Ijesha.
The backlash followed the release of the interview on her Talk-To-B podcast shortly after the actor regained freedom from prison.
In a video posted on her Instagram page, Adebayo explained that her intention was to carry out her duty as a host and not to support or defend the actor.
She revealed that after Baba Ijesha returned from prison, he informed her of his return, and she offered him a chance to appear on her platform.
According to her, she believed he would use the opportunity to apologise publicly or address the situation, but that did not happen during the session.
Adebayo maintained that her role was to ask questions and allow the guest to speak, adding that her platform is open to different kinds of people, regardless of their past actions.
That’s all for this week on NRTC WEEKLY. Stay tuned and join us again for another exciting edition next week!
