Politics: Supreme Court judgments, entertainment: Davido and Tiwa Savage, sport: AFCON, business: Tinubu suspension and fight against corruption, metro: Former President Goodluck Jonathan loses sister are the stories to discuss this week NRTC WEEKLY.

Supreme Court judgments

Nigerians have responded to the recent Supreme Court rulings, expressing commendation for the court’s delivery of sound judgments.

While discussions persist about the court breaking free from political godfatherism, there is a prevailing sentiment that the affirmations of Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Lagos State Governor, Bala Mohammed as Bauchi Governor, Abba Yusuf as Kano Governor, and others will foster trust in the judiciary.

NRTC WEEKLY has verified that some critics have condemned certain courts in Nigeria for exhibiting favoritism. They argue that imprisoning someone for stealing an ATM card appears disproportionate, especially when individuals with substantial wealth are granted bail.

The controversy sparked fervent debates, with fans from both camps scrutinizing every lyric and social media post for underlying jabs.

NRTC WEEKLY learned that the issue became a focal point of discussion, generating varied opinions on the evolving dynamics within the music industry.

Nigerians, renowned for their passionate support for the Super Eagles, are fully immersed in the tournament. Homes are transformed into impromptu viewing arenas adorned with flags and painted in the national colors of green and white.

The national jersey is more than just a garment; it’s a badge of honor proudly worn as fans gather to rally behind their heroes. Yet, beneath the surface of celebration, a current of concern lingers.

NRTC WEEKLY has confirmed the Super Eagles’ recent inconsistency, witnessing moments of brilliance overshadowed by lapses in concentration and tactical deficiencies. This variability fuels spirited debates among fans, with some questioning the team’s commitment while others staunchly defend against perceived criticism.

Nevertheless, the prevailing sentiment remains one of steadfast belief in the Super Eagles’ potential. Nigerians fondly recall the team’s triumphant AFCON victories in 1989, 1994, and 2013, holding onto hope that this generation can replicate those successes. They implore the players to fight with passion, execute their skills with precision, and leave nothing behind on the pitch.

The challenges are undeniable – formidable opponents, grueling matches, and the weight of national expectations – all obstacles standing in the Super Eagles’ path. Yet, Nigerians are confident in their team’s ability to thrive under pressure, remembering the “Miracle of Libreville” in 2017 when a late comeback secured World Cup qualification. They firmly believe that the Super Eagles possess the talent, resilience, and indomitable spirit to overcome any adversity.

Business: Tinubu suspension of the minister, others, a fight against corruption

Following the suspension of  Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, Nigerians have hailed President Bola Tinubu for standing on his promise.

Public discourse buzzed with speculation about motives and potential replacements, with calls for transparency and due process amidst cautious optimism.

While the praise is still ongoing, some have called for the suspension of Minister of Interior, Olubumi Tunji-Ojo over Mrs Edu’s misappropriation of funds.

Metro: Former President Goodluck Jonathan loses sister
