Business: Fuel price
NRTC WEEKLY gathered that Nigerians groaned and wailed as fuel prices soared every day. With the recent fuel price hikes, Nigerians expressed their grievances.

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that Nigerians demanded the return of fuel subsidies to alleviate the hardship levels in the country and called on President Bola Tinubu’s government to take steps to mitigate the impact of the fuel price hike.
They called for the return of subsidies, price controls, and improved governance.The fuel price hikes in Nigeria profoundly impacted the lives of ordinary citizens. The resulting hunger and economic hardship fueled widespread discontent and social unrest.

Sports: Super Eagles win Libya
Some Nigerians celebrated as the Super Eagles triumphed over Libya in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. NRTC WEEKLY gathered that some fans expressed disappointment with the victory, which came from a late goal by Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
While some Nigerians took to social media to share their excitement, others refrained, feeling the players could have performed better.
In a nutshell, the Super Eagles’ victory over Libya became a moment of national pride. It united the country and provided a much-needed morale boost.

Entertainment: Speed Darlington
NRTC WEEKLY gathered that Nigerians believed the arrest of singer Speed Darlington should set the standard for dealing with people defaming their colleagues or anyone on social media.
Reports indicated that Burna Boy had him arrested following unfavorable comments Speed Darlington made about him.
Speed Darlington was later released after his mother, Queen, pleaded with Burna Boy in a video. Following his release, many Nigerians celebrated his freedom and expressed their gratitude to those who advocated for his case.

Politics: Tinubu’s wife
Oluremi, the wife of President Bola Tinubu, said her husband should not be blamed for the current economic hardship in Nigeria.
Speaking at the Palace of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Remi stated that Nigerians groaning under economic hardship was not due to the removal of fuel subsidy, which had pushed the pump price of petrol from N198 to N1,030.
She was in Ife to inaugurate a hostel and a 2.7-kilometer road donated to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, by the Ooni of Ife, and named after her.
She said, “We were just 18 months into our administration; we were not the cause of the current situation; we were trying to fix it and secure the future.
“We know that subsidy has been removed, but with God on our side, in the next two years, Nigeria will be greater than this. Those who attempted removing subsidies before could not see it through. But with your prayers in the next two years, we will build a nation for the future.
“We give glory to God for our status, myself and my husband. We are not greedy, but we thank God for what God has done for us. It is not common for rich people to get to this seat, but I am grateful to God; we can not disappoint Nigeria, and with the help of God, we are getting to the promised land in no distant time.”
NRTC WEEKLY gathered that Remi’s comments sparked several criticisms from Nigerians, who questioned those responsible for the current situation of the country.
Metro: Kyari’s daughter’s death
The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, lost his daughter.
The 24-year-old was buried in Abuja according to Islamic rites.Her death was revealed in a condolence message by Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
Vice President Kashim Shettima and other politicians expressed their sympathy to the bereaved family.
