NRTC WEEKLY Highlights
Topics for this Edition: Portable and Queen Dami, govs back tax reform bills, EPL and viral Fish pie seller.
Entertainment: Portable vs Queen Dami
Controversial singer Portable and his estranged lover, Queen Dami once again captured public attention months after their highly publicized breakup, which was marred by mutual accusations and insults.
NRTC WEEKLY gathered that in December 2024, their relationship ended following a heated exchange during a TikTok live session.
Queen Dami, a mother of one, declared she was done with the “mad musician,” while Portable accused her of being the reason for his failure to win a Grammy.
Months after their separation, their failed reconciliation has reignited their feud.
Reports indicate that Queen Dami reached out to return to Portable’s home, but the singer rejected her and publicly questioned whether she had been involved with another man during their time apart.
Their recent online clashes have sparked mixed reactions from the public. While some find the drama amusing, others have criticized Portable’s behaviour toward Dami.
Social media is abuzz with opinions, with some siding with Dami, others defending Portable, and a few calling for authorities to intervene to prevent further escalation.
Politics: Governors back tax reform bills
After months of deliberation, Nigerian governors have endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s tax reform bills.
The governors also supported a revised Value Added Tax (VAT) sharing formula to ensure a fairer distribution of resources: 50% based on equality, 30% on derivation, and 20% on population.
This resolution was included in a communiqué issued after sub-national consultations and discussions between the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and the Presidential Tax Reform Committee in Abuja.
During the high-level meeting, the governors agreed to maintain the current VAT rate and Corporate Income Tax (CIT) to preserve economic stability.
In response, President Tinubu, through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, praised the governors for supporting the reforms.

However, some big clubs are navigating uncertain times. Manchester United, under new manager Ruben Amorim, is still finding its rhythm despite high-profile signings, while Chelsea is undergoing a transition after a disappointing season.
