Nigerian football legend, Nwankwo Kanu, has debunked reports that he asked Nigerians to vote for a specific candidate ahead of the 2023 elections.
Kanu issued this clarification through a Twitter video, on Friday.
This came amid reports that the former footballer solicited votes for a specific candidate.

As a result, Kanu clarified that those reports are fake and Nigerians should collect their PVCs in order to exercise their franchise.
He said, “I am not a politician; I am a footballer. Whoever is just talking, spreading fake news about me that I asked you to vote for who and who. No, I don’t do such. My name is Kanu Nwankwo and all my life is about football. That is my field which I am proud of.
“Please, this is the last time; stop spreading fake, wicked news against Papilo. Don’t destroy what you can’t destroy; go and get your PVC and vote for the best. Make your choice. Vote so that Nigeria will be better. I didn’t say anything; all the same, go and vote.”
