The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has fixed Wednesday, January 21, 2026, as the commencement date for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course across all its 37 orientation camps nationwide.
The scheme made the announcement in a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday.
According to the statement, “Camp Registration for all Corps Members will take place from Wednesday, 21st to midnight of Friday 23rd, January, 2026.

The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, urged prospective corps members to ensure safe journeys to their various states of deployment and cautioned them against travelling at night.
The management of the scheme also advised corps members to strictly comply with the orientation timetable to guarantee a hitch-free exercise.
Established in 1973 after the Nigerian Civil War, the NYSC programme was designed to promote national unity and integration. The three-week orientation camp serves as the entry phase of the scheme.
During the camp, corps members participate in paramilitary drills, lectures on national development, cultural activities, and Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training, all aimed at encouraging interaction and cooperation across ethnic and religious divides.
