NYSC warns corps members against late-night travel ahead of Batch ‘B’ Orientation

As preparations for the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 orientation exercise begin, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has advised prospective corps members to avoid travelling to camp at night, citing safety concerns.

Speaking with journalists on Tuesday, the Public Relations Officer of the NYSC in Bauchi State, Jacob Unogwu, emphasized the importance of arriving safely and during daylight hours. He noted that the scheme does not support late-night travel due to the risks it poses to the lives of corps members.

According to Unogwu, the registration of the 1,700 prospective corps members deployed to Bauchi will take place between July 30 and midnight of July 31 at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Wailo, located in Ganjuwa Local Government Area.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for August 1, while the orientation programme will conclude on August 19.

“Prospective corps members would be allowed into the camp only after being adequately certified to be genuine graduates,” he said.

He further disclosed that all incoming corps members would undergo thorough screening to prevent impersonation and other security breaches. He reminded the participants that strict compliance with all camp rules, including registration timelines and dress codes, would be enforced.

“Registration dates have been announced to the corps members, and they are advised to adhere strictly to all camp rules and regulations. Defaulters will be sanctioned in accordance with the scheme’s extant rules,” Unogwu added.

He urged prospective corps members to maintain discipline, punctuality, and appropriate conduct throughout the orientation period.
