On Tuesday, January 9, the Nigerian-born World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wrestler, Oba Femi won the NXT North American title.
The Breakout Tournament winner won his first title with the yellow and gold brand after he cashed in his guaranteed title opportunity against the defending champion, Dragon Lee.
Lee had already defended his title once on the show, defeating Lexis King. After that bout, Femi came to the ring and cashed in his shot earned by winning the Breakout Tournament finals on last week’s New Year’s Evil episode of NXT.

The title win marks the latest chapter in a meteoric rise for Femi, who has just 21 career matches according to online wrestling database Cagematch.
Femi is a former track & field athlete at Alabama who was part of WWE’s NIL program in 2021 and 2022, and he was officially signed to the company in August 2022, with his in-ring debut taking place on a November 2022 episode of NXT Level Up.
Tuesday’s bout was just the sixth match for Femi on the weekly NXT program on USA, where he remains undefeated at 6-0.
