Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, has congratulated Ghana’s newly inaugurated President, John Mahama.

In a congratulatory statement shared on his X page today, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) expressed hope that Mahama’s leadership would illuminate the path toward a stronger Ghana and an Africa that fulfils Kwame Nkrumah’s vision.

Obi, 63, also wished the people of Ghana a new chapter characterized by peace, prosperity, and the fulfilment of their collective aspirations as they embark on this journey of hope and resilience.

ā€œMy dear elder brother, President John Dramani Mahama, as you take the oath of office today as President of Ghana, I would like to heartily congratulate you once again and wish you a fruitful tenure.

ā€œOn December 7th, 2024, the people of Ghana spoke loudly in an unmistakable voice that they wanted a reset of their country and gave you the mandate to do it. My earnest prayer is that God Almighty will be with you and grant you the wisdom and willpower to prioritize the welfare of Ghana’s people rather than the fewā€, he said.

Obi encouraged Mahama to consistently set an example through his unwavering commitment to the masses and dedication to inclusive development.
