Nottingham Forest Football Club have officially confirmed the appointment of Sean Dyche as the club’s new head coach.
Dyche, 54, replaces Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked three days ago after only 39 days in charge.
The former Burnley and Everton boss returns to his roots on a contract running until the summer of 2027. He brings both Premier League experience and a deep personal connection to Forest.
Having emerged from Forest’s youth system in his early playing days, Dyche’s appointment feels strategic. It represents a reunion of identity and intent, as the club looks to stabilise under a manager known for his discipline and defensive structure.
Moreover, Dyche will not walk alone. He is accompanied by assistants Ian Woan and Steve Stone, two club legends who collectively made more than 400 appearances for Forest during the 1990s. Their return injects valuable insight and continuity into the coaching setup.

Dyche’s return blends nostalgia with pragmatism
With over 330 Premier League matches under his belt, Dyche’s tactical blueprint is built on organisation, physical strength, and work ethic — qualities that have long defined his teams. Consequently, Forest fans can expect a side that defends with structure, attacks with purpose, and thrives on set-piece mastery.
In addition, the recruitment process was led by Edu Gaspar, the club’s Global Head of Football, and George Syrianos, Global Technical Director. Together, they identified Dyche as the ideal figure to embody Forest’s competitive spirit while instilling a long-term footballing philosophy.
Equally important is Dyche’s personal connection to Nottingham and its people. Having lived locally and played for the club in his youth, he understands the pride and expectation that come with wearing the badge. His appointment, therefore, feels less like a gamble and more like a restoration of values.
As Forest prepare for Thursday’s Europa League clash against FC Porto, Dyche faces an immediate test — but also a golden opportunity. If his trademark grit and unity take hold quickly, the Reds could be on course for their most stable and purposeful campaign in years.
