Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has condemned the recent attacks on seven farming communities in Ovia South West Local Government Area, which resulted in the tragic loss of 22 lives and extensive destruction of property.
The governor also denounced the killing of two farmers, Batemue Philip Ebo and Christopher Bello, in Okpekpe, Etsako East Local Government Area, allegedly by suspected herdsmen.
According to reports, militants carried out the brutal assault on the seven Ovia South West communities, leaving dozens injured and destroying homes and farmlands worth millions of naira.

Expressing his outrage, Governor Okpebholo vowed to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
“We will not tolerate any form of violence or lawlessness in Edo State,” he declared.
“We will work tirelessly to ensure that those responsible for these heinous acts are held accountable and do everything in our power to prevent such incidents from recurring.”
In response to the escalating violence, the governor has ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to the affected areas to restore peace and protect residents.
He also directed that support be provided to victims and their families.
“We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all Edo State residents,” Okpebholo reaffirmed.
“We will collaborate closely with security agencies, traditional leaders, and community members to achieve this goal.”
Governor Okpebholo further called on Edo residents to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement as efforts to stabilize the situation continue.
“We urge everyone to stay calm and go about their normal business. The government is taking all necessary steps to bring the situation under control,” he assured.
