Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering on campaign promises through the commencement of key infrastructural projects across the state’s three senatorial districts.

Governor Okpebholo made the announcement on Sunday, 20 April 2025, during a thanksgiving service held at St. Anthony Catholic Cathedral, Uromi.

He revealed that several road contracts had already been awarded as part of efforts to enhance infrastructure and promote regional development.

Accompanied by members of his administration, the governor expressed gratitude to God for his victory at the polls and the favourable judgement delivered by the election petition tribunal.

He also thanked the church and congregation for their prayers and support throughout his senatorial and gubernatorial campaigns.

Highlighting the importance of community cooperation, Okpebholo promised to work tirelessly to improve the quality of life for all residents.

He assured the people that significant developments were underway across various sectors in the state.

Among the major projects announced is the construction of a dual carriageway linking Uromi and Ubiaja.

The project, which has already commenced from the Ubiaja end, is expected to ease transportation and support economic activities in the Esan region.

“Work has already commenced on the Ubiaja side, with plans for additional lanes reflecting our commitment to leaving a lasting legacy in the Esan region,” the governor said.

He also disclosed plans for alternative routes to reduce road congestion, including a new road linking Uromi to Iworah via Unewa and Uwesan.

He noted that development work was already visible in some of these areas.

In a symbolic gesture of appreciation, governor Okpebholo made a donation to support the ongoing development of the cathedral, reinforcing his administration’s ties to local communities and faith-based institutions.

Speaking at the service, the Bishop of Uromi Diocese, Right Reverend Donatus Ogun Osa, commended the governor for his efforts to restore peace in Uromi following recent security challenges.

He described Okpebholo’s visit as historic, noting it was the first time a sitting governor had come personally to the church to offer thanks.

The Bishop called on the people of Uromi and the state at large to cooperate with the governor in building a better and more prosperous the state.
