Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has issued a firm directive to contractors handling ongoing projects across the state.
He urged them to strictly adhere to job specifications and ensure the delivery of quality work.
Governor Okpebholo, who gave the order during an inspection tour of various projects at different stages of completion, stated that his administration remains committed to transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.
“I am accountable to the people of Edo State, and I must justify how funds from the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) are being utilised,” the governor said.

He assured residents that more people-oriented projects would be rolled out, aimed at improving infrastructure and quality of life across the state.
Highlighting progress on the Upper Ekenhuan Road, the Governor announced that the section up to the Nigerian Army Cantonment in Ekenhuan had been completed.
He further revealed that construction work on the Upper Ekenhuan axis at Igo community in Ovia North-East Local Government Area would soon commence, as the contract had already been awarded and the contractor would be mobilised to the site in the coming days.
“Do you remember this road? The first day we passed here, people came out to complain. We have awarded this portion of the road. You will see contractors on-site soon,” he said.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, pledging to deliver infrastructure that meets the expectations of the Edo people.
“We will continue to inspect projects to ensure contractors work according to specifications and meet agreed timelines. Edo money will be used for the benefit of Edo people—nothing will be diverted under my watch,” he added.
Governor Okpebholo also reiterated his commitment to effective governance, stressing that his team would maintain strict oversight of all projects to ensure value for money and timely completion.
