Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has commended the resilience and dedication of workers across the state as Nigeria marks this year’s Workers’ Day.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Okpebholo extended warm greetings to workers in the state and beyond.

He praised their unwavering commitment to the development of the state and the nation at large.

He described the workforce as the backbone of society, noting that their hard work, sacrifices, and perseverance continue to drive the state’s economy, shape its communities, and influence its future.

“From civil servants and healthcare professionals to teachers, artisans, and entrepreneurs, your dedication to service and excellence is the foundation of Edo State’s progress,” the governor said.

Highlighting his administration’s priorities, Okpebholo reiterated his commitment to improving workers’ welfare through better working conditions, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, capacity-building initiatives, and sustained industrial harmony.

He also used the occasion to appreciate the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) for their advocacy and role in promoting workers’ rights and social justice.

While acknowledging the challenges faced by workers, the governor assured that his government would continue to address their concerns and create an enabling environment for all sectors to thrive.

Governor Okpebholo called on workers to remain dedicated and committed to the growth and prosperity of the state.
