The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has called on Nigerian youths to prioritise ethical values and moral discipline as essential tools for success and responsible leadership.
Olukoyede gave the charge during the EFCC’s Integrity Club outreach programme at Al-Manar Basic Education School, Life Camp, Abuja.
Represented by the Head of Public Interface at the Commission’s Public Affairs Department, Assistant Commander I Tony Orilade, he emphasised that moral uprightness would pave the way for young Nigerians to achieve greatness and positively shape the country’s future.
“You must be careful about the friends you keep and the conversations you entertain. Stay focused and diligent in pursuing your goals, and you will become responsible citizens and worthy leaders,” Orilade advised.

He further encouraged the students to resist anti-social behaviour and avoid involvement in financial crimes, stressing the EFCC’s commitment to youth enlightenment and prevention.
“We are here to sensitise you against embracing anti-social behaviour. We don’t want to see any of you being investigated for corruption in future. Instead, we want you to grow into leaders with honour, integrity, and accountability,” he said.
Orilade urged the students to join the EFCC’s Integrity Club to gain continuous guidance on ethical conduct and sound moral judgement.
Reinforcing the message, Assistant Commander II Aisha Mohammed, Head of the Commission’s Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit, defined integrity as doing the right thing even when no one is watching.
“Speak up whenever you witness wrongdoing. Be assured that the EFCC will intervene to ensure justice is served,” she said.
However, the Vice Principal of the school, Adamu Sliu, commended the EFCC for the visit and encouraged the students to combine good character with academic excellence.
“Always remember that good character matters most,” he said.
The outreach programme is part of the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to instil a culture of integrity, responsibility, and civic consciousness among Nigerian youths.
