The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has urged student union leaders across Nigeria to steer clear of internet fraud and actively collaborate with the Commission in combating the menace on campuses.
Olukoyede made this call during an interactive session in Benin City, Edo State, with executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC), Edo Axis, and the National Association of University Students (NAUS), Edo State.
The student leaders had paid a courtesy visit to the Benin Zonal Directorate of the EFCC.
Speaking through the Acting Zonal Director, Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE I) Effa Imoh Okim, Olukoyede emphasised that the Commission’s efforts against internet fraud were aimed at safeguarding the future of hardworking Nigerian youths.
“What we are doing here is in your best interest. We do not want your future to be destroyed by bad elements. Internet fraud tarnishes our country’s image and discourages investment.
“We need you to help spread this message among students, urging them to embrace the values of hard work, integrity, and discipline while rejecting the lure of quick wealth. There is no shortcut to success—those who attempt it often end up in regret,” he stated.
