Omah Lay speaks on two-month relationship that ended during 2025 Grammys

Nigerian singer Omah Lay has spoken about a recent emotional setback, revealing that a relationship he believed had great promise ended after just two months.

The music star shared the experience during the listening party for his upcoming album, Clarity of Mind. While addressing guests at the event, he explained that he had taken the relationship very seriously and had even imagined starting a family with the woman.

According to him, the relationship eventually collapsed while he was attending the Grammy Awards in early February 2025.

“Every time I fall in love, I lose myself. While I was at the Grammy and Justin Bieber was performing, I was having a breakup and an embarrassing moment.

“While I was at the Grammys, I was not present because even before the show I had already started having issues in my relationship. And this was only a two month old relationship. But I thought it was the right relationship and I was going to have a baby,” he said.

The singer also admitted that he finds it difficult to balance multiple commitments at once, especially when trying to manage both his music career and a romantic relationship.

He said the experience partly inspired his song Don’t Love Me.

“I don’t know how to do two things at time. When I am into one thing, all of me is into that. So, I wasn’t even present at the Grammys. I didn’t even enjoy anything.

“So my song ‘Don’t Love Me’ is me saying girl, let’s enjoy this moment but as soon as I find another thing that gives me pleasure, I’m going to leave,” Omah Lay explained.
