Ondo gov approves renovation of schools

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the construction and dualisation of the Akure-Idanre Road.

He said the approval was part of a series of infrastructure development projects aimed at enhancing the state’s transportation and education sectors.

The approval, which came during the State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting held at the governor’s office in Akure.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Special Adviser to the governor on Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Abiola Olawoye, said the dualisation project will begin with the first phase—covering a 10-kilometre stretch from the Arakale/Oke Aro Junction to KM 10 along the Akure-Idanre road.

In addition to the road project, the EXCO also approved a broad programme of construction and renovation works across educational institutions in the state.

These include upgrades to technical colleges, Unity Secondary Schools, and various public secondary schools.

The approved projects include the renovation of male and female hostels at Unity Secondary Schools in Epinmi Akoko, Owo, and Ode-Aye, as well as the construction of classroom blocks in A.U.D. Akungba Akoko, Idanre High School, Ikoya Grammar School, Community High School in Ode Mahin, and Igi Moni Community Girls School in Ebutte-Ipare.

Other educational projects comprise the renovation of science laboratory and classroom blocks in schools located in Akure, Oba Ile, and Ondo, the construction of a perimeter fence at Ejioba High School, Oba Ile, and comprehensive upgrades of all technical colleges in the state under the Board for Adult, Technical and Vocational Education (BATVE).

In addition, the SEC approved a number of infrastructural projects.

These include the construction of the Omuro International Market at Ode-Ugbo, a concrete sedimentation tank at Aboto, and concrete landing walkways in various locations within Ilaje and Ese Odo Local Government Areas.

Also approved were the upgrading and vertical enhancement of Fasoranti Park in Alagbaka, Akure; the supply of laboratory equipment to the Quality Control Department of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure; and the construction of 32 terraced four-bedroom apartments in Alagbaka, Akure.
