Ondo govt, FG to partner on SDG projects

On Tuesday, Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, highlighted ongoing efforts to align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through various projects and policies.

During a visit by Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on SDGs, Aiyedatiwa praised her role in advancing the 2030 Agenda nationwide. 

He emphasised the state’s commitment to achieving SDG targets, acknowledging progress remains at 15% nationwide since 2015.

Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan said he underscored the importance of stakeholder support and partnership for global SDG achievement.

He detailed state initiatives including solar street lights, healthcare and education recruitment, agricultural support, and infrastructure improvements to boost food production. 

Aiyedatiwa stressed the need for advocacy and thanked the SDGs office for its role in poverty eradication and sustainable growth.

Princess Orelope-Adefulire reaffirmed federal support for Ondo State’s SDG efforts, highlighting inclusivity and efforts to combat poverty. She assured continued collaboration with the state government and emphasized the SDGs’ core principle of partnership.

Bayo Philips, Head of Service, noted the timely SDGs sensitization effort and highlighted the state’s readiness to explore opportunities benefiting residents. Later, state representatives and the presidential aide’s team discussed further partnership areas in a technical session.
