The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old suspected cultist, Raymond Sunday, and recovered a loaded firearm during an operation in the Epe area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal.

According to the statement, detectives from the Okutanla Division responded to credible intelligence about a stealing incident at Ago Lisa Camp in Epe around 7:30 p.m. on 2 March 2026.

During the operation, officers arrested Sunday, a resident of Owode Camp, and recovered a locally made cut-to-size double-barrel gun loaded with pellets, a red beret linked to cult groups, and a tattoo on the suspect’s chest believed to be associated with a cult fraternity.

The command said investigations were ongoing to determine the suspect’s possible links to other criminal networks and identify accomplices, adding that he would be charged in court after the investigation.

Lawal reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling cultism and illegal arms proliferation in the state and urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children’s associations to prevent involvement in unlawful societies.
