Organized Labour withdraws from minimum wage talks

Estimated reading time: 1 minute

On Wednesday, Organized Labour withdrew from the ongoing minimum wage negotiations with the Federal Government.

This decision followed offers from the Federal Government and the Organized Private Sector (OPS) of N48,000 and N54,000, respectively, which Organized Labour deemed “ridiculous.”

Sources from DAILY POST revealed that the Federal Government did not provide data to support its proposal, in contrast to Organized Labour.

The OPS, however, claimed that none of its members pay less than N78,000.

Benson Upah, the spokesman for the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), confirmed the withdrawal in a phone call with DAILY POST.

He stated, “Yes, we are out. We are about to address the press and you will get the details then.”
