Nigerian recording artiste, Oxlade has disclosed that he once worked as a tout after he ran away from home at a tender age.

The singer whose real name is Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman revealed that he did menial jobs to foot his bills after he absconded from home to pursue his music career.

In a recent interview, the music star disclosed that he had to leave home because his lecturer dad didnā€™t initially support his decision to be a musician.

He said: ā€œHonestly, he [my dad] was indifferent at first. But my stubbornness and consistency paid off [laughs].

ā€œI ran away from the house at some point in my life to pursue music personally. And I had to do all sorts of stuff to survive. Selling bus tickets and selling foods at parties.ā€

Stressing that he is from the ā€˜streets of Surulereā€™ in Lagos, he avowed that ā€œif you can survive in Surulere, you can survive anywhere.ā€

Oxlade added that the experience he had in the ghetto helped him make better decisions.
