Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has commended the state Council of Elders for their dedication to preserving Yoruba culture and tradition through the publication of a new book emphasising the Omoluabi ethos.
The governor gave this commendation yesterday during the presentation of the book, ‘Yoruba Renaissance: Challenges and Prospects’, authored by Sir Lawrence Egunjobi, at the governor’s office in Ado-Ekiti.
Oyebanji described the elders as a vital pillar of support and praised their contributions to governance through regular position papers on key policies.
He expressed gratitude for their guidance and assured them of his administration’s unwavering commitment to serving Ekiti people with integrity and dedication.
“I cannot afford to let Ekiti people down,” he stated, emphasising that he remains conscious of every decision made by his administration to ensure shared prosperity for all, regardless of religious or political affiliation.

He credited his achievements to divine wisdom and pledged to continue working for the state’s progress.
The governor urged the elders to take advantage of the state’s free health insurance scheme for senior citizens to improve their well-being.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Joseph Oluwasanmi, President of the Ekiti Council of Elders, praised Oyebanji’s leadership, likening his wisdom to that of King Solomon.
He highlighted the book’s role in promoting Yoruba socio-cultural and political values, noting its national significance and collaboration with the Yoruba Council for a wider presentation.
