The Oyo State Government has approved the conversion of 1,591 ad hoc local council workers to permanent staff across the state.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, announced the development on Friday, stating that it was in line with Governor Seyi Makindeās promise to strengthen the workforce at the local government level.
The governor had granted approval for the conversion of ad hoc staff in the stateās 33 local government councils last October. Ojo assured that due process was followed in the employment process.
He further stated that appointment letters for the newly converted workers would be available for collection from Monday, February 3, to Thursday, February 6, 2025. However, he emphasized that collection by proxy would not be allowed.
āAll successful applicants are to collect their appointment letters at the Local Government Service Commission between 10:00 a.m and 2:00 p.m daily,” he said.

According to him, different categories of workers are scheduled to collect their appointment letters on specific dates. Administrative Officers, Agricultural Officers, Data Processing Officers, Engineers, Building and Quantity Surveyors, Estate Valuation Officers, Environmental Health Officers, Information Officers, and Land Surveyors are expected to collect their letters on Monday, February 3.
Clerical Officers will collect theirs on Tuesday, February 4, while Messengers and Cleaners are scheduled for Wednesday, February 5. Drivers, mechanics, articulated vehicle drivers, and watchmen are to collect their letters on Thursday, February 6.
Ojo congratulated the successful candidates and wished them success in their new roles.
