Paul Onuachu has netted his seventh league goal of the season. The Nigerian striker powered home a header for Trabzonspor in a 2-1 victory over Rizespor. This strike cements his lead in the Super Lig scoring charts.
Trabzonspor struck first through Felipe Augusto after two minutes. Onuachu doubled the lead in the 19th minute. He rose above defenders to meet Simon Banza’s cross with force.
Rizespor pulled one back via Jesurun Rak-Sakyi in the 27th minute. The hosts pressed hard in the second half. Yet Trabzonspor held firm for their fourth straight unbeaten run.
Onuachu now boasts seven goals in nine matches. He has scored in four consecutive games. Five of those came in his last five outings.
The win lifts Trabzonspor to second place with 20 points. They trail Galatasaray by two points. The leaders hold a game in hand.
Onuachu joined Trabzonspor permanently this summer. He arrived from Southampton for €5.6 million. Last season’s loan yielded 15 goals in 21 games.
