The agreement, referred to as the Heads of Terms, was signed at the Governorā€™s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja. The signing was witnessed by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang. Governor Mutfwang expressed his satisfaction with the move, noting that it marks the end of years of neglect of Plateau Stateā€™s legacy properties.

He highlighted the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the revitalization of Plateau Hotel.

“I want to start by thanking all members of the private sector for the confidence and trust they have shown. It was a moment of pride when we signed the MoU for the reconstruction of Hill Station Hotel, and today, we have taken another significant step with the MoU for Plateau Hotels.

“We have numerous assets that have remained underutilized for years, and now, we are turning them around for the better. I’m pleased to see the hospitality sector in Plateau State proving to be resilient and attractive. Restoring the symbol of our pride is a commendable achievement,” he added.

Governor Mutfwang emphasized that the ongoing reconstruction efforts will not only enhance Plateau State’s aesthetic appeal but also attract tourists in search of quality accommodations.

He reaffirmed his administrationā€™s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment.

Danlami Jelka, Managing Director of PIPC, provided an overview of the Heads of Terms, highlighting that the hotel, once completed, will meet international standards, significantly improving the state’s hospitality sector.

Jelka further explained that eleven firms submitted proposals during a competitive selection process, with Aviare Global Concepts emerging as the winner due to the strength of its financial and technical plans.

Both parties agreed to a 20-year initial lease term, starting from the date of the Refurbishment, Rehabilitation, Operation, and Transfer.

The project is expected to generate employment for youths, increase revenue for the state, optimize assets, and include profit sharing and an annual lease fee, among other benefits.

Kudla Satumari, Chairman of Aviare Global Concepts Limited, stated that his company boasts a 31-year track record of successfully delivering national and international projects.

He assured the state of his commitment to providing high-quality results.

“I have never failed to meet my targets, and I am committed to completing this project to the admiration of all. I urge the Plateau State Government to offer the necessary support to ensure we meet the agreed specifications and timelines.”

This marks a new chapter for Plateau State, as the administration continues to leverage private sector partnerships to harness the state’s tourism potential. General Manager, Plateau State Tourism Corporation, Mr Chuwang Pwajok was part of the signatories to the Heads of Terms.
