Police foil bandit attacks, rescue 207 abducted children

The Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant successes in its ongoing efforts to combat crime, marking a notable achievement through intelligence-driven policing across various states.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Police spokesperson disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

On January 18, 2025, operatives from the Kogi State Police Command successfully intercepted a group of armed bandits planning an attack on a forest in Budon, Kogi State.

The operatives engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, overpowering them. One bandit was neutralized, and four others were arrested.

In addition, one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 30 rounds of live ammunition, and two motorcycles were recovered.

On the same day, a distress call alerted authorities to an impending bandit attack on Ruwan Doruwa Village in Katsina State.

Police operatives, in collaboration with other security agencies, responded swiftly. In a subsequent clash, seven bandits were neutralized, and the remaining members of the gang fled, abandoning 109 livestock, believed to have been rustled.

In a major breakthrough in the fight against human trafficking, the Nigeria Police Force has escalated its efforts to dismantle illegal baby factories and rescue trafficked children.

A successful operation by the Ondo State Police Command led to the rescue of 14 children, aged between one week and seven years, from suspected traffickers.

The operatives arrested three individuals—Abosede Olanipekun, Lukman Isiaka, and Sabira Izuorah—who were part of a child abduction and trafficking syndicate operating in the region.

These operations are part of the Police ongoing commitment to enhance public safety and combat criminal activities across the country.
