Popular Nigerian biker Kola Onifoto dies after solo ride crash in Lagos

Nigerian photographer and avid biker, Orowole Kolapoz, popularly known as Kola Onifoto, has passed away following a solo motorcycle accident in Lagos.

The 32-year-old travel enthusiast and brand influencer was involved in the crash on Sunday during what he described as his first solo ride outside Lagos.

Details surrounding the exact cause of the accident remain sketchy.

Just hours before the accident, Kola had posted on his official Facebook page that he was en route to Akure. “Big shout out to those who have ridden their bikes to every state in this country, to Africa, and across the world, especially women. My eye see wheeen,” he wrote on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

Friends later revealed online that Kola had been rushed to the emergency unit of the Federal Road Safety Corps at 7UP, Ojota. He was then transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, where well-wishers took to social media to pray for his recovery.

Tragically, Kola succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Monday, March 2.

News of his death triggered an outpouring of tributes from friends, colleagues, and fans. Victor Daniel reflected on Kola’s close bond with his father, saying, “Kola was largely financially responsible for his father, but way beyond that, Kola was the man’s eyes and heart… He’s living for his dad and how much easier he wanted to make the remainder of his dad’s life.”

Olumide Glowville mourned him as a person who “lived fiercely on his own terms… You were a force of relentless hard work, dedicating so much of your energy to untangling the problems of others… Farewell, Soldier.”

Oluwafemi MC Zeezou highlighted Kola’s many talents and impact: “Author… Soldier… Driver… Documentary photographer… Tourist… Comedian… Musician/poet… Brother… My friend, my brother, sleep well. We’d take solace knowing you lived.”
