Portable granted ₦2m bail after court arraignment, case adjourned to March 5

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been granted bail by the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

This comes after he was arraigned on a five-count charge, including conspiracy, assault, obstruction, possession of weapons, and conduct likely to cause harm.

Portable had surrendered himself to the police at the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) on Wednesday, after being declared wanted by the Ogun State Command. He was then transferred to the Ogun State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, before being presented in court on Thursday.

The singer pleaded not guilty to all charges, and his counsel, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, appealed for bail, stating that Portable had shown remorse and learned from the situation.

Magistrate O. L. Oke granted Portable bail in the sum of ₦2 million with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until March 5, 2025, for trial.

Nine of Portable’s aides were also arraigned on similar charges, including felony, assault, obstruction, and conduct likely to breach public peace.

The Ogun State Government had earlier condemned Portable’s alleged actions, describing him as a “serial dissident and unrepentant rascal.”

The charges stem from an incident on February 5, 2025, where Portable and his associates allegedly attacked three town planners while they were performing their official duties at Odogwu Bar, owned by Portable.
