Manchester City is inching closer to another Premier League title after walloping Newcastle United 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
After being knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid in the Champions League in the midweek, all that was left for the noisy neighbours is the Premier League.
Manchester City have now gone three points clear of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League.
Raheem Sterling and Aymeric Laporte put City in control at the break. This was the right response as they blew away the cobwebs from Wednesday’s Champions League defeat at Real Madrid.

Rodri made it three for the hosts with a header after the hour mark.
Substitute Phil Foden made it four late on and Sterling got his brace to round off the scoring.
Newcastle lost early opportunity
Chris Wood failed to open the goals account as he wasted a glorious early chance for Newcastle. This would have added to City’s nerves as his side paid the price when Sterling scored after 19 minutes.
Laporte made it two before half-time after Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka fumbled Ilkay Gundogan’s volley. Rodri then ensured the victory is secured with a near-post header from Kevin de Bruyne’s corner just after the hour mark.
Newcastle were deflated and outclassed. This gave City the chance to improve their goal difference even further.
Substitute Phil Foden struck in the closing moments, turning in Oleksandr Zinchenko’s touch, before Sterling completed the rout with a close-range finish in added time.
This title is for Manchester City to lose
The win takes City to 86 points, three points above Liverpool with three games left to play.
If both teams wins their next two games, the title could be decided on the last day as just four goals difference separate both teams. Manchester City have the edge in this aspect.
So, they can stop themselves from winning their eight Premier League.
As it stands, it is down to City to lose the title they won last season.
