This handed another defeat to Steven Gerrard’s side. The Liverpool legend recently returned to the dugout after a negative COVID-19 test.
The Bees have now leapfrogged Villa to the 12th spot.

Danny Ings gave the visitors the lead after a delightful link-up with Emi Buendia.
The hosts restored parity when Roerslev set up Yoane Wissa and the Danish wing-back completed the comeback with his first goal for the club.
Everton 2-3 Brighton
Alexis Mac Allister added to the problem of Everton when he opened the scoring in the third minute.
Following Neal Maupay’s cushioned header and Dan Burn headed in when unmarked at the back post to double the lead after 21 minutes.
The returning Dominic Calvert-Lewin, absent through injury since August, had the chance to reduce the deficit from the penalty spot after referee John Brooks reviewed Enock Mwepu’s challenge on Anthony Gordon – but he fired his spot-kick over.
In the second half, Gordon gave his side hope of a fightback with a deflected shot eight minutes after the restart.
However, Mac Allister’s excellent second from the edge of the box put the away side back in control.
Gordon later got his brace with 14 minutes remaining made for a tense finish, but he was unable to complete his hat-trick with a late chance.
The defeat leaves Everton 15th on the log.
Leeds 3-1 Burnley
Leeds United eventually ended their three-game losing run in the Premier League with a victory over Burnley at Elland Road.
The win also adds to the Clarets’ own relegation fears.
Jack Harrison gave Leeds the lead before the break, squeezing an effort inside the near post after Wayne Hennessey saved the winger’s initial strike.
Burley restored parity through substitute Maxwell Cornet’s sublime free-kick. The celebrations were soured when Matt Lowton was hit in the face with a bottle thrown from the crowd.
Stuart Dallas then restored their lead with 13 minutes to go and Daniel James’ header then crept in as Bielsa’s side moved eight points clear of the relegation zone.
Chelsea 2-2 Liverpool
Chelsea held Liverpool to a draw in a four-goal thriller at Stamford Bridge. This result strengthens Manchester City’s stranglehold on the Premier League title race.
Sadio Mane pounced on Trevoh Chalobah’s mistake to put Liverpool in front after nine minutes.
Mohamed Salah’s moment of individual genius gave Liverpool a two-goal lead. The Egyptian feint to fool Marcos Alonso then a perfect near-post finish.
Then Chelsea staged their comeback on the stroke of half-time. They reduced the deficit through Mateo Kovacic’s spectacular volley which flew beyond Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
Christian Pulisic later atoned for a missed chance earlier in the game raced clear to equalise in first-half stoppage time.
Both sides had chances to win in the second half with Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy saving superbly from Salah and Mane while Kelleher thwarted Pulisic.
