Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu found the net, but his goal was not enough to save Southampton from a 2-1 home defeat to Wolves.
The match, played at St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday, saw the Super Eagles forward start on the bench before making an impact.

Wolverhampton Wanderers took the lead in the 19th minute through Jørgen Strand Larsen, who capitalised on a rare first-half opportunity. The Norwegian striker struck again shortly after the break, doubling the visitors’ advantage in the 47th minute. Southampton struggled to respond, with their best chances coming later in the match.

Onuachu was introduced early in the second half and immediately made his presence felt. He came close in the 60th minute when his effort rattled the crossbar. However, his persistence paid off in the 75th minute, as he pulled one back for Southampton.
Despite Onuachu’s late goal, the Saints failed to complete a comeback, leaving them with yet another disappointing result.

Fellow Nigerian Joe Aribo also featured in the match but was substituted in stoppage time. Aribo, who formerly played for Scottish outfit Rangers was replaced by 31-year-old Jack Stephens.
