The Premier League is back and it’s the final game week before yet another international break. This article looks at the Premier League game week 8 preview.
The defending champions – Liverpool – have found a way back to the top for the first time this season. Will they be able to retain their spot?
The race for the title is still quite open and no position is guaranteed ahead of the new game week.
Saturday Premier League Game Week 8 Preview
Everton vs Manchester United
The clash between Carlo Ancelloti’s men and the Red Devils would definitely be a match to look forward to.
Everton started the season in flying form bar their last two losses against Southampton and Newcastle. They’ve been massively affected by the unavailability of Richarlison, James Rodriguez, Seamus Coleman, and Lucas Digne.
Carlo Ancelolloti would hope to have them available to bolster their chances of coming out with a win.
Playing against The Red Devils looks a good fixture for the Toffees following United’s two consecutive losses to Arsenal and Instabul Basaksehir in the Champions League.
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is under severe pressure and nothing other than a win would be considered acceptable. The Norwegian has to pull something different and special to claim victory over the Merseysiders. He hasn’t been able to defeat them since he took charge of the club.
Considering the current form, a draw looks more likely here.
Crystal Palace vs Leeds United
Both teams have had a similar start to the season which is reflected in the league standings. They sit 12th & 13th on the table with the same points and just goal difference putting Leeds ahead.
This looks the most evenly matched fixture of Premier League game week 8. They will both be looking to get a win from the match. However the odds are tipped slightly in favour of Leeds to win.
Chelsea vs Sheffield United
Chelsea is in flying form with an unbeaten run of 7 games in all competitions. They’ve also had 3 consecutive clean sheet wins and will be looking to add to that as they face a Sheffield United side that seems to lack a cutting edge.
The new signings seem to have gelled together and have made them a free-scoring side finding the back of the net 10 times in their last 3 games.
The Blades sit 19th in the Premier League and have failed to win any game in the Premier League so far. An away encounter with the Blues doesn’t seem a favorable fixture to grab their first win of the season.
West Ham United vs Fulham
David Moyes’ men have had quite a run in their past few games. All things considered, they’ve done well. They face a vulnerable Fulham side at home. Based on form, they are favorites to edge the game.
Fulham on the other hand earned their first win of the season over West Brom last week. The win took them out of the relegation zone but they remain very much in the relegation battle.
A win at the London Stadium would seem they have turned a corner.

Sunday Premier League Action
West Bromwich Albion vs Tottenham Hotspur
Outside of Liverpool and Manchester City, Tottenham looks a team who could actually make a challenge for the title.
Jose Mourinho has shaped Spurs into a team of genuine quality. Looking at the cutting edge they have in Son Heung Min and Harry Kane, they could go on to exceed expectations this season.
They face a West Brom side that has struggled to cope with adjusting to life in the Premier League. Slaven Bilic’s men are yet to win in 7 games.
The Baggies have defensive issues while Tottenham have firepower going forward. This makes the game to likely end in one way.
Leicester City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
Leicester City has taken a counter-attacking route in recent games that has yielded dividends. This was evident in their 4-1 victory over Leeds last weekend despite having just 33% possession.
They face Wolves who are known to set up in a similar fashion. It’s now a matter of whether they’ll be able to break down a Wolves side with one of the best defensive records so far this season.
Manchester City vs Liverpool
It’s a Super Sunday clash between Manchester City and defending champions Liverpool.
City has had a rather underwhelming start to the season, sitting 10th on the log. The Citizens would likely be without their talisman, Sergio Aguero. However, Juan Jesus is fit to start the game.
Liverpool on the other hand have climbed their way back to the top after last week’s victory over West ham.
New signing Diogo Jota is in flying form. The Portuguese national has posed a good problem for Jurgen Klopp in that he is now Liverpool’s second-highest goalscorer this season.
Arsenal vs Aston Villa
Aston Villa’s last 2 defeats in the Premier League suggests that their honeymoon period is over. The Villains sit ahead of their opponents and still have a game in hand.
Arsenal have been quite good this season albeit with certain setbacks. They will be high on confidence on the back of their victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford and a 4-1 victory over Molde in the Europa League.
Arsenal are favorites in this fixture but it will be interesting to find out if Villa could pull another trick out of the bag as they did against Liverpool.
