Preview of Premier League Game Week 25

Premier League Game Week 25 is back after the first knockout round of European fixtures.

The title race seems over after Pep Guardiola’s men claimed victory in their outstanding game against Everton yesterday.

With Liverpool being victorious in their European bout with Leipzig, they will look to replicate that performances in the league.

Oladipupo Mojeed brings us a preview and his predictions for the fixtures in Premier League Game Week 25.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Leeds United

After a long run of poor form and results, Wolves seems to be getting things back in order with 2 victories in their last 3 games.

Their poor form after Raul Jimenez’s injury sees them sit in the bottom half of the table, 2 points behind opponents Leeds United. A victory would see them top Leeds, edging them closer to the top half of the table.

Leeds’ recent form is almost evenly divided with 6 defeats and 5 victories in their last 11 league games. Their away form has been good which is a positive heading into this fixture.

With just 2 points between them and the top 10, they will look to earn all 3 points in this encounter.

Prediction: 2-1
Southampton vs Chelsea

The Saints has seen their fortune turn around negatively this year with just 1 victory in their last 11 matches, which includes 6 defeats in their last 6 league matches. This run of form sees them sit 13th place, after their defeat to Wolves last time out.

Chelsea continues to impress under new manager Thomas Tuchel, most especially defensively, conceding just once since his appointment.

Their run of form sees them back in the top 4 after a 2-0 victory over Newcastle on Sunday. Chelsea will look to extend their run of 5 victories at the Saint Mary’s in order to secure their spot in the top 4.

They are heavy favorites for this encounter and are expected to come out with a victory and most likely a clean sheet.

Prediction: 0-2
Burnley vs West Bromwich Albion

Burnley’s leveler just 3 minutes after going behind saw them earn a point against Fulham on Thursday.

The draw sees them unbeaten in 3 Premier League games, and places them in 5th position on the league table. They’re favourites for this encounter and a victory could take them as high as 13th place.

West Brom are winless in 6 Premier League games but did get an impressive result against Manchester United on Sunday. The Baggies would need to build on that performance if they’re to have any chance at survival this season.

Prediction: 2-1
Liverpool vs Everton

Another Merseyside derby is upon us as the champions welcome Carlo Ancelotti’s men to Anfield.

Liverpool strangely have a really poor form at Anfield as they are winless in 5, of which they lost their last 3. It is paramount for Liverpool to put up a good performance to get them back in contention for top 4, and also to better their rivals.

Everton have a poor record at Anfield as they haven’t won there since 1999. This is the best chance they have at ending their awful derby record as Liverpool have been struggling for a while.

With 2 premier league defeats in a row, momentum isn’t on their side either but they have enough quality in their squad to put up a fight. This encounter promises to be a thrilling one.

Prediction: 2-1
Fulham vs Sheffield United

Fulham have had their fair share of draws this season with only Brighton having more stalemates than the Cottagers. They are expected to get all 3 points instead of 1 in this encounter. This will do them a lot of good as they seek to climb out of the relegation zone.

Sheffield United were brushed aside by West Ham on Monday. The Blades have lost enough games this season and simply need points against a direct relegation rival.

They will be aiming for a win because of the gap separating them from safety.

Prediction: 2-0
West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur

West Ham has been the better team on form and will look to extend their unbeaten run in the league to 4 games.

They have a chance to break into the top 4 if they get a positive result against Spurs. It will be an uphill task as key players such as Michail Antonio and Angelo Ogbonna are still out with injury.

Spurs got back to winning ways with a 4-1 victory over Wolfsberger AC in the Europa League, after losing 3 of their previous 4 games. They haven’t been in firing form lately and the results have seen them drop to 9th place in the league.

Three points from this encounter is crucial as they are in danger of losing out on European places this season.

Prediction: 2-2
Aston Villa vs Leicester City

After sharing the spoils with Brighton on the road, Aston Villa will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.

The Villans have had their share of ups and downs this season, but the fans must be happy with their displays. Aston Villa aim to retain their spot in top ten, but the game against Leicester City will be anything but easy for Dean Smith’s men.

Hause and Wesley remain sidelined with injuries, while Cash should be fit to face the Foxes. Brendan Rodgers’ men, on the other hand, came from behind to claim a 3-1 victory over champions Liverpool in their last league match, as they keep their place in the top 4. Both Aston Villa and Leicester are likely to go for a win so quite a few goals on both ends are expected.

Prediction: 2-3
Arsenal vs Manchester City

All eyes will be on the Emirates Stadium when Arsenal and Manchester City face each other in what could turn out to be the biggest clash of the weekend.

The Gunners quickly bounced back from a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa by claiming victory over Leeds United at the weekend.

No doubt, their are on a high ahead of them welcoming Manchester City. A man to watch in the home team will be Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who scored his first Premier League hat-trick in the victory over Leeds.

The Citizens have been in splendid form in 2021, with the trophy already within their reach ahead of Premier League Game Week 25.

In Kevin de Bruyne’s absence, Ilkay Gundogan has stepped up as the key man in Pep Guardiola’s machinery. And given City’s attacking potential, a lot of goals can be expected in this meeting.

Ake and Fernandinho remain doubtful for this encounter while Thomas Partey and Kieran Tierney are also expected to be sidelined for the hosts.

Prediction: 1-3
Manchester United vs Newcastle United

After sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, the Red Devils will be looking to return to winning ways.

Manchester United aims to melt Manchester City’s advantage in the Premier League, and are likely to go all guns blazing at the Magpies.

Paul Pogba is not expected to feature and Edison Cavani remains a doubt ahead of this encounter.

Newcastle United, on the other hand, failed to impress in a 2-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, leaving them in the danger zone.

With the Magpies’ poor form on the road and Callum Wilson still unavailable, the hosts are favourites for this encounter.

Prediction: 3-1
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Crystal Palace

Monday’s game at the Amex Stadium between Brighton and Crystal Palace promises to bring down the curtain on day 25 of the current league campaign.

The Seagulls have been playing some low-scoring games lately, with 5 goals scored or conceded in their last 6 matches in all competitions. Since the hosts are likely to rely on their rock-solid defence in this clash, multiple goals are unlikely.

Crystal Palace on the other hand, failed to impress in back-to-back defeats to Leeds United and Burnley.

A repeat of the result in the reverse fixture won’t be a surprising in this Premier League Game Week 25 clash.

Prediction: 1-1
