Queen Elizabeth Dies at 96


British monarch and head of the commonwealth has died.

Buckingham Palace released a statement on Thursday to confirm the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the II who is the longest serving sovereign.

The Queen came to the throne in 1952 and witnessed enormous social change. In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon”.

“The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

Earlier today, all the Queen’s children and grandchildren travelled to Balmoral, near Aberdeen, after doctors placed the Queen under medical supervision.

With her passing, the longest serving British monarch’s eldest son Charles, will lead the country in mourning as the new King.
