Former President Barack Obama took to social media to honor Quincy Jones, celebrating the legendary producer’s unparalleled contributions to the music and film industries.
In a post on X, Obama reflected on Jones’s extensive career and ability to connect with listeners across generations, describing him as a trailblazer who “paved the way for generations of Black executives to leave their mark on the entertainment business.”
“For decades, Quincy Jones was music,” Obama wrote.
He cited Jones’s role in producing Michael Jackson’s Thriller, one of the best-selling albums of all time, and his work composing the score for The Color Purple, among many other achievements.
Jones’s career, he said, spanned collaborations with icons like Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles, and his music “appealed to listeners of every race and every age.”
