Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Real Madrid CF have taken a record breaking 15th UEFA Champions League title.

Los Blancos attained this feat by dispatching German based outfit Borussia Dortmund 2-nil at the Wembley stadium.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side expectedly came into the final as favourites with illustrious history in the competition.

The final started on the front foot with Borussia Dortmund looking to take the battle to the Spanish giants.

The returning Thibaut Courtois did enough to keep out a Marcel Sabitzer effort just before the break.

After the break, Madrid settled and took the game by the scruff of the neck.

After a series of setpieces put into the Dortmund penalty area, Los Blancos finally found the lead through an unlikely header from Dani Carvajal.

Edin Terzic introduced Donyell Malen, Sebastien Haller and even Marco Reus in order to get into the game.

However it all fell among thorns as Jude Bellingham capitalized on Ian Maatsen’s back pass to set Vini Jr up for the game’s second.

Borussia Dortmund came into the final with already bad history at this venue having lost to Bayern Munich back in 2013.

Marco Reus and defender Mats Hummels were both a part of that day’s first eleven and with the former now departing the club after 12 years of service, the farewell is a most dreadful one.

By winning this edition’s, Real Madrid have now won the European Cup/Champions League more than twice as many times as any other side (15). Achieving this while remaining unbeaten for the entirety of the campaign.

Head Coach Carlo Ancelotti has also become the first manager to win this tourney on five different occasions across 2003, 2007, 2014, 2022 and now 2024.
