Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has commended the Muslim community for embracing religious harmony that promotes peace in the state.
Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan disclosed in a system that the governor gave the commendation while receiving Muslim leaders, led by Sheik Ahmad Aladesawe, Chairman of the League of Imams and Alfas in the state in Akure.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and collaborative efforts with all religious communities for the continued progress and prosperity of Ondo State.

He stated that his recent appointments were made based on political considerations rather than religious affiliations, stressing the unity of the people regardless of faith.
The governor, however, assured that future appointments would take into account the diverse interests of the state’s population.
Speaking on education and religious freedom, Aiyedatiwa affirmed support for both private and Islamic schools, noting the government’s previous efforts in supporting special Islamic education initiatives.

He reassured the Muslim community of ongoing efforts to address teachers’ shortage and ensure recruitment of Islamic teachers.
Expressing condolences on the passing of former Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu the delegation prayed for strength for the bereaved family and the State.
Sheik Aladesawe stressed the importance of inclusivity in governance as well as commended some of the governor’s initiatives, including payment of outstanding workers salaries and pension.

The Muslim leaders presented recommendations to the governor, including the resuscitation of the Nigeria Inter Religious Council (NIREC) for better interaction between religious bodies and the government, fair distribution of social amenities, prompt payment of outstanding gratuities, and a declaration of a state of emergency in teachers recruitment.
