The Ondo State Police Command has cleared the air over reports claiming that the convoy of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu was involved in the death of a young girl in Akure.
The incident took place on Thursday while the First Lady was visiting the state to launch a health programme and share 10,000 professional kits with midwives across the South-West.
According to the police, the reports were false.
Their investigation showed that the child was actually hit by an unregistered white Lexus vehicle, not by any car in the First Lady’s convoy.
The crash occurred in the Oba-Ile area of Akure, and a witness who saw it happen chased after the hit-and-run driver on a motorcycle.
Several people at the scene, including the girl’s parents, supported the police account.
The command also corrected the child’s age, stating that she was seven years old, not nine as some reports claimed.
