Resignation: Practice what you preach, APC to PDP governors

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

In a scathing response to the recent statement by governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on them to lead by example and resign from their positions if they cannot fulfill their constitutional duties.

The PDP governors had advised President Bola Tinubu to step down if he felt incapable of governing Nigeria effectively.

However, APC in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka described PDP governors attitudes as a display of “noxious executive flippancy” and criticised the governors for neglecting their responsibilities as chief executives of their respective states.

According to APC, effective governance requires collaboration and constructive contributions from all levels of government. The party added that PDP governors, as members of the National Economic Council and National Council of State, are expected to offer solutions to the challenges facing the nation.

The APC also condemned the PDP governors for making reckless statements that could incite social unrest, such as likening Nigeria to Venezuela.

Instead of focusing on governance, the APC accused the PDP governors of engaging in “doomsday vocalism” and neglecting the needs of their citizens.

Furthermore, APC questioned the accountability of the PDP governors, particularly citing the case of Delta State, where they allege mismanagement of federal allocations without tangible development to show for it. The party called on the PDP governors to justify their actions and prioritize the welfare of their constituents.

The party  commended President Tinubu for taking responsibility and providing strong leadership during challenging economic times.

APC beseeched Nigerians to remain patient and assured them of a brighter future under the administration’s transformative policies.
