Cristiano Ronaldo has stepped into football ownership, acquiring a 25 percent stake in Spanish club UD Almeria.
The 41-year-old forward, currently starring for Al-Nassr, completed the deal through CR7 Sports Investments. Almeria are controlled by a Saudi-led consortium headed by Mohammed Al-Khereiji.
While figures remain undisclosed, Ronaldo stated his clear intent about his new chapter. He said he looks forward to working with the leadership team “to support the next phase of the club’s growth”.
The Portugal captain added: “It has been a long-held ambition of mine to contribute to football, beyond the pitch. UD Almeria is a Spanish club with strong foundations and clear potential for growth.”
President Al-Khereiji welcomed the partnership warmly and spoke in glowing terms. “[Ronaldo] is regarded as the greatest to ever play the game, he knows the Spanish leagues very well and he understands the potential of what we are building here both in terms of the team and the academy.”

Almeria, founded in 1989, sit third in Segunda and trail leaders Real Racing Club by two points. With 15 matches remaining, promotion remains firmly within reach.

How Ronaldo’s business empire keeps expanding
Ronaldo’s move shows a long evolution away from relying solely on football income. According to Forbes in 2025, he generated nearly £210m, with over £50m coming from ventures outside football.
His portfolio spans hotels, gyms, lifestyle brands and recovery products across Europe and beyond. A hotel partnership that began in Madeira in 2016 expanded into properties in Lisbon, Madrid, New York and Marrakech.
He also co-founded a hair-transplant clinic operating in Spain, Portugal, Oman and Italy. At the 2024 Dubai Globe Soccer Awards, he hinted he understood how to fix structural flaws in major clubs.
Now, ownership at Almeria is another ambition turned into reality. The treadmill may slow eventually, but Ronaldo has built something designed to keep moving long after his final whistle.
