Samsung launches One UI 7 Beta

Android 15 has been out for a while for phones such as the Google Pixel, and yet, there’s a notable absence throughout the update rollout news cycle: Samsung. Well, the One UI 7 beta is now here for Samsung’s phones and has many updates up its sleeve.

Early last week, Samsung released a public One UI 7 beta for its Galaxy smartphones. Every year for every version of One UI, Samsung seems to want to have a large change and for this specific version, it’s no exception. One UI 7 brings a few new changes to the interface with a new look of the notifications and the “Now Bar”. This bar gives a shortcut to the most used features such as the interpreter, music player, and stopwatch without having to unlock the phone.

Samsung claims that this is the first step towards a continuing intelligent progression for the lock screen. As for now, the company has not opted for a single UI design thus while it decides on the best design, of course, users are going to experience more new One UI versions alongside new UI changes as well.

Cameras also receive their dose of UX tweaks in the form of less hitches controls and enhanced zoom capabilities in Pro Video mode. The OS also includes a range of new artificial intelligence enhancements like enhanced writing assistance tools that let users quickly and easily summarise text, check for grammar, and format annotations. The update also adds automatic real-time call transcription in 20 languages to end the manual writing notes during the call.

Specifically, Samsung opens the One UI 7 beta program on the Galaxy S24 in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the U.K., and the U.S. Samsung typically offers up the first public beta builds in December, which is a lot later than last year, but Android 15, which is what it’s based on, was released a tad later as well. It will first be launched for the Galaxy S series in the first quarter of 2025 and will be later rolled out to other Galaxy devices.
