Samsung unveils the Galaxy S24 FE, Its latest budget Flagship

After launching the Galaxy S24 in January, Samsung revealed on Thursday plans for a cheaper S24 FE model to expand the Galaxy’s AI reach.

The S24 FE is equipped with a 4,700mAh battery, while the S24 Plus features a slightly larger vapour chamber, for enhanced heat dissipation. It comes with an impressive 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X with the support of up to 120Hz for refresh rate, the largest of the FE series; The new FE will be powered by the Exynos 2400 series and high light effects such as Ray tracing. The S24 series on the other hand has its U.S. models carrying a Snapdragon chipset. Another interesting feature of the FE is “Vision Booster” which enhances color and contrast for high glare situations. Altogether, the company says that the S24 FE is “the perfect device for gaming on the go”.

The S24 FE also has an AI-powered Photo Assist feature that suggests corrections and edits to a picture or helps add or remove objects in a picture using generative AI. It’s going to change the look of your selfies in a cartoon, comic manner, watercolour paint style or sketch to help you reimagine your social media profile picture. Also, it will be possible to utilize Circle to Search with Google on the FE and work with the device as the real-time language translator using Live Translate even if you are offline. The FE can also summarize, format and even translate your meeting notes, besides assisting in the drafting of emails and posts for the supported social media apps “based on simple keywords.”

New in FE are; A 50MP wide lens A 3x optical zoom 8MP telephoto lens A 12MP ultra-wide lens A 10MP selfie lens The FE release also introduces Samsung’s ProVisual Engine which as per the company uses ‘state-of-the-art the art AI algorithms to produce stunning details and very soft textures. AI image signal processing to enhance the low-light capability, the 50 MP camera’s Adaptive Pixel Sensor delivers optical quality at 2x zoom and more, and it has an Object-Aware Engine that adjusts colours in HDR of a photo.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is set to be released October 3 in five colours; Blue, Graphite, Gray, Mint and Yellow. These phones can be pre-ordered from Samsung at $649.99 for the model with 128GB of internal storage and at $709.99 for the model with 256GB of storage. To give you an idea, the S24 costs $860, while the S24+ has a price starting at $1,000.
