Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to strengthening cultural ties and building global partnerships.
The governor made this known during the K-Heritage Festival 2025, a vibrant event held on Friday in Victoria Island.
The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, represented him at the festival.
In a goodwill message, Sanwo-Olu praised the Embassy of the Republic of Korea for choosing Lagos as the host city, calling the state the “cultural heartbeat of Africa where traditions from across the globe thrive and connect.”
He highlighted the festival’s importance as a bridge between Nigeria and Korea, stating that cultural exchange is a powerful diplomatic tool that transcends borders and fosters mutual understanding.

The governor pointed out shared values of resilience, creativity, and innovation that connect the two nations, noting that these attributes have positioned both as global leaders in technology, entrepreneurship, and the creative industries.
He expressed his belief that cultural exchanges, from K-pop music to traditional Korean fashion, serve to dissolve differences and build meaningful relationships.
Sanwo-Olu assured attendees that Lagos, as a major economic and cultural hub in Africa, is open to further collaborations with Korea.
He stated that such partnerships would enrich the state’s cultural landscape, create opportunities for young people, and strengthen bilateral cooperation.
The governor concluded by expressing his hope that the K-Heritage Festival would become a recurring and cherished event on Lagos’s cultural calendar, reinforcing the state’s role as a platform for global cultural exchange.
