The Lagos State Government has clarified that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu did not authorize or instruct any legal practitioner to file a lawsuit on his behalf against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a statement, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, emphasised that it would be misleading to suggest otherwise.
Pedro pointed out that the governor, protected by constitutional immunity, has nearly three years left in his term and would have no reason to engage a lawyer on such a matter.
He further explained that the EFCC is neither investigating Governor Sanwo-Olu nor has it issued any summons or arrest threats against him or any member of his staff, official or domestic.
