Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has renewed the tenure of Oba of Lagos, Oba Riliwanu Aremu Akiolu as the Chairman, Lagos State Council of Obas.
Sanwo-Olu also renewed the tenures of the State Council of Obas as well as the Chiefs for another term.
According to the governor, the monarchs play an important role in preserving cultural heritage, contemporary governance, and delivery of the dividends of democracy.

He charged the council on the importance of keeping the state safe for business, and habitation as well as the role of institutions interacting heavily with communities.
“As a responsive government, we have continued to support our traditional rulers to enhance their mobility and general upkeep, as well as the construction and renovation of palaces across the State.

“We expect that all of these will aid the seamless discharge of their duties in their respective domains.”
